Form Cues

  • Attach a D-handle to a low cable pulley.

  • Stand sideways to the cable so the working arm is on the far side of your body.

  • Grip the handle with the hand of the working arm so the cable runs across your body.

  • Start with the handle near your opposite hip, arm slightly bent.

  • Raise the arm out to the side in a wide arc, stopping at shoulder height.

  • Lead with the elbow and pinky finger up — as if pouring out a glass of water.

  • Lower with control, resisting the cable all the way back to the start.

  • The cable provides constant tension through the full range — no dead spot at the bottom like with dumbbells.

  • Complete all reps on one side before switching.
