Form Cues
-
Set an incline bench at roughly 30-45 degrees inside the Smith machine.
-
Lie back on the bench and grip the bar with a shoulder-width or slightly narrower grip.
-
Unrack the bar with arms extended above your upper chest.
-
Lower the bar by bending at the elbows, letting the bar travel toward your forehead or just behind your head.
-
The incline puts your arms at an angle that stretches the triceps long head more than a flat skull crusher.
-
Keep your upper arms stationary — only the forearms should move.
-
Extend the arms back to lockout, squeezing the triceps at the top.
-
The Smith machine's fixed path keeps the bar stable, allowing you to focus purely on the elbow extension.
