Form Cues

  • Anchor the band at shoulder height and stand sideways with feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart

  • Grasp the band with both hands, arms nearly straight — start with hands near the anchor side at shoulder height

  • Rotate your torso away from the anchor, pulling the band diagonally across your body from high to low (or straight across)

  • Drive the rotation from your core and obliques, not by pulling with your arms — your arms are just connectors

  • Keep your feet planted and your lower body stable — your hips can rotate slightly but shouldn't drive the movement

  • Control the return phase slowly — don't let the band snap you back to the start

  • Keep your chest up and spine neutral throughout — avoid rounding forward or leaning away from the anchor

  • Exhale during the chop (rotating away), inhale as you return to the start
